Approval to Ship AeroTech Single-Use Motors Granted By U.S. Postal Service; UPS Increases Hazmat Fee to $15.00

AeroTech, Inc. is pleased to announce that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has granted AeroTech an approval to ship certain single-use motors by domestic Parcel Post (surface mail only) service.

AeroTech single-use motors containing 30 grams or less propellant per motor are authorized under the approval. This currently includes all delay variations of the D21T, E15W, E30T and the F20W Econojet motors.

The approval allows shipment of these single use motors by USPS Parcel Post without the hazardous materials (“hazmat”) fee currently being charged by other carriers such as United Parcel Service (UPS).

In related news, UPS recently announced that its surcharge for hazmat shipments has been increased from $13.00 to $15.00 per box. AeroTech order forms and price lists are being updated to include this increase.

The USPS has extended the terms of the approval to cover AeroTech’s dealers and distributors; however, the dealers and distributors must read and comply with all the provisions of the approval. A copy of the approval is attached to this information release and will also be available for download in Adobe PDF format from the AeroTech website.

In 1993, the USPS granted AeroTech an approval to ship certain of its Reloadable Motor System (RMS) reload kits by Parcel Post. AeroTech is investigating if an updated approval will be required from the USPS for the RMS in light of recent rule changes by the USPS.
