AeroTech is pleased to announce three additional offerings in its DMS™ Disposable Motor System™ line of adjustable delay and ejection single-use motors.

The H115DM and I500T feature a filament-wound fiberglass casing, a glass-reinforced composite phenolic nozzle, and a molded plastic bulkhead. AeroTech Reissues Legacy G25W Motor as an RMS™ Reloadable Motor System™ Reload Kit
AeroTech has re-released its popular legacy single-use G25W as an RMS reload kit, designed to fit AeroTech and Rouse-Tech™ RMS- 29/120 “high power style” reloadable motor hardware.

The G25W reload kit retains the “moonburning” offset core grain geometry of the single-use original, and includes a phenolic liner to enable the reusable RMS metal casing to withstand the long burn time.

The 10-second time delay of the G25W may be shortened by up to 4 seconds using the AeroTech RMS Delay Drilling Tool (RDDT, P/N T082510-1).

The new G25W reload kit is Tripoli certified and produces a thrust curve with an initial thrust spike of approximately 14 pounds that gradually tapers to zero during its 4.5 second thrust duration.

The G25W may be purchased by consumers 18 years of age or older, with no user certification required. The reload kit ships with a FirstFire Jr.™ igniter and is priced at $19.99 each suggested retail.

AeroTech Demonstrates 18mm RMS-R/C™ Reloads at NARAM-55
AeroTech unveiled two new 18mm RMS-R/C rocket motor reload kits at the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) NARAM-55 launch near Aurora, OH.

The C3.4T-P and the D2.3T-P reloads are “plugged” and intended only for use in radio controlled rocket gliders and cars. They do not include a delay or ejection charge and are therefore not suitable for standard vertical launch model rockets, without the use of electronic recovery system deployment.

The motors were successfully demonstrated in several flights by Zachary Stenberg and Keith Vineyard at NARAM on Friday 7/26 in their FAI class S8D R/C rocket gliders.

Instead of using R/C-specific hardware like previous RMS-R/C motors, AeroTech designed the new end-burning reloads to be compatible with existing RMS-18/20 hardware. Users are instructed to plug the ejection well in the forward closure with “JB Weld” epoxy to prevent reverse thrust from escaping out the forward end of the motor as the propellant grain burns out. AeroTech will make a separate forward closure available for users who wish to continue using their RMS-18/20 motors with standard model rockets, and there are also plans for a “plugged” forward closure to eliminate the step of applying the JB Weld epoxy.

Both motors are NAR certified and have an initial thrust spike of approximately 2 pounds that quickly drops to about ½ pound during the sustain portion of the burn, tapering to 0.4 pounds at burnout with the D2.3T-P. The C3.4T-P has a burn time of 2.9 seconds while the D2.3T-P has a burn time of 8.6 seconds.

The C3.4T-P and D2.3T-P reloads may be purchased by flyers 18 years of age or older, with no user certification required. The reloads are available now from the ValueRockets.com website at $12.99 per 3-pack for the C3.4T-P and $14.99 per 3-pack for the D2.3T-P. A bulk pack of 12 reloads will be available soon at a price 10% lower per reload than the 3-pack price.

The 18mm RMS-R/C reloads ship with the new FirstFire Mini™ 2-wire igniter due to the extremely small throat size. Ignition with the new igniters is easy, quick and reliable.

AeroTech Announces 38mm RMS-EZ™ Reloads at LDRS-32
AeroTech introduced the first offerings in its new “RMS-EZ” line of adjustable delay and ejection Reloadable Motor System™ rocket motor reloading kits at the Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA) LDRS-32 launch near Gerlach, NV.

RMS-EZ reloads include a new, molded modular bulkhead featuring a preinstalled delay grain that eliminates the previous assembly of six separate components in AeroTech’s legacy RMS reload kits. This significantly reduces motor assembly time and eliminates a substantial risk of user error.

The first reloads to be offered in the line include the I161W-14A, I357T-14A (fits RMS-38/360 hardware) and I211W-14A (fits RMS-38/480 hardware).

The RMS-EZ motor design uses existing RMS motor cases and aft closures, and the forward retaining ring from the RMS spacer system. Standard and plugged RMS forward closures cannot be used with the RMS-EZ reloads, however the spacer tube and “anchor” retaining ring components of the spacer system are completely compatible with the new design. For a limited time, AeroTech is offering a free retaining ring to each customer who purchases one or more RMS-EZ reloads.

The 38mm RMS-EZ system is TRA certified and may be purchased by flyers possessing an appropriate NAR or TRA user certification. There is no price increase over the previous version of the reloads.

The as-supplied time delay of RMS-EZ reloads may be shortened in 2-second increments using AeroTech’s Universal Delay Drilling Tool™ (UDDT™), which is also being provided free of charge to each customer who purchases one or more DMS™ single use motors or RMS-EZ reload kits (one free tool to a customer, please). A generous ejection charge, FirstFire™ igniter and a new, internally installed vinyl ejection cap are also supplied with the new reloads. The user as part of the motor assembly process dispenses the ejection charge as needed into the RMS-EZ bulkhead for the particular rocket being flown.

RMS-EZ reload kits are packaged in a distinctive yellow shipping tube with AeroTech logos printed on the outer spiral wrapping. Motor data including a sample time-thrust curve are printed on a label that is applied to the outside of the tube for easy identification and performance evaluation by the flyer. Caps on the ends of the tube are secured externally and are easy to remove.

Additional RMS-EZ reload kits are under development including those in 29mm and 54mm diameter. RMS-EZ motors are ideal for inexpensive Level 1 & 2 certifications and for general sport flying.

RMS-EZ modular bulkheads will be made available separately for retrofitting AeroTech’s legacy reloads.

RCS, Inc. and Quest Aerospace, Inc. Announce Merger
RCS Rocket Motor Components (RCS), Inc. President Gary C. Rosenfield announced today that the two companies have successfully completed a corporate merger. Quest Aerospace, Inc. will be closing its Colorado facility and moving its operations to the RCS facility in Cedar City, Utah. Rosenfield will remain as RCS President, and Bill Stine current President of Quest will become Vice President of RCS.

“The two companies have nearly identical manufacturing operations and the merging of the two operations into one is a major cost savings for us”, said Quest Aerospace President Bill Stine.

Quest is widely known as a leader in the beginner and education markets for model rockets. Its kit designs and rocket motors are geared for the entry-level rocketeer. The RCS/AeroTech line of mid to high-power products starts right where the Quest line leaves off. “We will be the only hobby rocket company in existence that can bring a fourth grader into the hobby and carry him all the way through to an ‘M’-powered Level 3 certified flight and beyond with our own products” said Rosenfield.

Rosenfield and Stine expect the move from Colorado to Utah should be complete within thirty days and customers should see very little interruption of shipping.
